Prior to joining the LYMC community I was unemployed and feeling very lost and disheartened. I had just been through an awful employment experience and was at a very low point in my career confidence and consequently second-guessing my passion for marketing. I had no idea what I wanted to pursue as a career, or which direction to go in. I was even considering enrolling in an apprenticeship and spending 4 years to be a qualified tradesperson, disregarding my Marketing degree altogether.
Leaning from Nina I was able to re-inspire my confidence in the marketing career path.
That was the turning point for me. Once I believed that my awful experience was a one-off and most employers are much better than that, I also started to gain confidence in my marketing skills. This was when I finally received my first job offer in an entry-level marketing position, based in Adelaide, after nearly 3 months of unemployment and feeling worthless. I am ecstatic to" have the opportunity to work for a well-known and great company and be valued for my tertiary marketing knowledge.

Why I started Launch Your Marketing Career..?

I was continually hearing of stories from marketing graduates who were feeling stuck after applying for numerous entry level marketing roles and unable to get their foot in the door.
- Many marketers were emerging from their studies feeling disappointed, confused and isolated as a result of not being able to land their first job (or even a decent internship!)
- They told me they felt they weren’t really equipped for the “real world” of modern marketing and don’t have what employers are looking for - frustrated that no-one will give them a chance.
- It upset me to see such low self-confidence and bright young marketers full of self doubt. Many even turning to other “stop-gap” jobs in retail, IT, Admin or hospitality to “pay the bills” and feel trapped, and like they are giving up on the career of their dreams.

Having left the “nest” of their university or training-provider they feel isolated. They don’t understand the current industry landscape or have the connections or experience they need to get their foot in the door.
